June 25, 2003
Mike Manatos, 34 is perhaps the city’s only other third generation lobbyist. His grandfather, who was also Mike, spent 25 years in the Senate working as a staff aide or chief of staff to five Wyoming senators. He then became the Senate lobbyist for Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.
Mike’s dad, Andrew, was a top aid to former Sen. Thomas Eagleton (D-Mo) and the chief lobbyist at the Commerce Department under Present Carter. In 1981, Andrew opened his own firm with his father, the elder Mike, w ho died two years late.
Andrew’s son Mike is the oldest of four boys. He joined his father’s shop, which specializes in Greek-American issues, in 1990.
