Super Bowl Bound?
Rep. Shelley Berkley represents Las Vegas, so you’d think she wouldn’t have to go far to get a read on who’s going to win this year’s Super Bowl. But Berkley has instead turned to local public affairs consultant Andrew Manatos, whom she dubbed in a letter this week “Washington’s Greek Oracle.”
Manatos, she noted, “defied odds of more than 1,000 to 1” in selecting the next president, vice president and secretary of state in May 2007 when he invited Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton to speak before the Coordinated Effort of Hellenes. (Berkley shares Manatos’ Greek heritage.)
“So, Andy, I trust you will apply your mystical powers to divine the Super Bowl winner and provide that information to me as soon as possible,” Berkley wrote.
Manatos, who served in the Carter administration, is going with the Tennessee Titans, he told us. But he also has a couple political predictions. He said to expect a “restoration of congressional authority” in 2009, as well as a “much larger international role for the president of the United States.”
